In the field of civil engineering, DICEAA is engaged in issues related to the design, construction, maintenance, safety, and structural monitoring of construction works, with a focus on the design and seismic retrofitting of diffuse building estates and monumental architecture. 

In the domain of building engineering and architecture, it deals with land use planning; architectural and urban design, drawing, surveying, and restoration, including the rehabilitation of the built environment and the preservation and enhancement of cultural and environmental heritage; landscape protection; building and urban planning legislation; the history of architecture, the city, and building techniques; topography and cartography; mobility. 

In the context of environmental and land engineering, it is interested in the construction and maintenance of works for securing and rehabilitating the territory, as well as for the mitigation of environmental risks; the study, surveying and monitoring of environmental parameters; the development of geomatics techniques and methods and physical-mathematical modeling for hazard and risk analyses of the territory, and for environmental assessments of plans, projects and infrastructures of the territory.
